Set up a character, read the first zone’s boss timings, and learn movement, card selection and rerolls before entering Elwynn Forest.

Start at the original game, choose a class, leave the run on Normal difficulty, and read the selected zone before pressing Enter. The live v0.120.4 menu checked on October 27 shows Elwynn Forest as the first open zone for the fresh Warrior character we inspected.
1. Get to the character screen
Open Aethus’s game in a current browser with WebGPU support. Let the game-data download finish. A moving progress counter is different from a failed launch; repeatedly refreshing restarts work instead of helping you reach the menu.
The Character screen has three useful areas: classes on the left, your character and equipment in the middle, and zones on the right. The language selector is at the top right. Changing the language of this guide does not change the game’s language.
2. Choose a class with a purpose
Click a class icon, then read Starts with and Spell pool. These explain what you begin with and the options associated with that class. The Warrior we inspected starts with Cleave. Its displayed health was 230 with a Human character and no equipment; that is an observation of this setup, not a universal class ranking.
For the first attempt, use one class long enough to learn its opening rather than switching after every failure. Our class selection guide explains how to compare without confusing race, equipment and talents with class strength.

These are the shortcuts printed by the checked menu. Open Options → Key Bindings for the full binding list and your current configuration. A reroll shortcut does not establish that rerolls are unlimited; check the resources and choices shown during your run.
4. Read Elwynn Forest’s schedule
The selected Elwynn Forest panel shows this sequence in v0.120.4:
Time shown
Boss
3:00
Hogger
6:00
Mother Fang
9:00
Rhahk’Zor
12:00
Mr. Smite
16:00
Edwin VanCleef
Duskwood’s lock text requires defeating Edwin VanCleef in Elwynn Forest. Merely reaching the displayed final-boss time is not the same requirement. Older descriptions of a universal 15-minute run should not replace the schedule shown in your current client.
5. Make each attempt useful
Pick a simple goal for the first run: learn movement, understand a card choice, and recognize when the first boss appears. Keep track of what actually ended the attempt. If you were surrounded, practice leaving an open route; if a choice was unclear, read its effect before selecting. These are learning suggestions, not a tested optimal route.
Back at the menu, inspect Collection, Drop Tables and Talents. The equipment panel states that bosses can drop class gear that is kept. Our progression overview separates those menu systems and explains the first zone unlocks.
Common questions
Do I need a World of Warcraft subscription?
The author provides this separate game through the original browser site and a Windows download. It is a fan-made project, not the official World of Warcraft client.
Why is the next map still locked?
Read the exact text on that map. For Duskwood in the checked menu, the condition is defeating Edwin VanCleef in Elwynn Forest; surviving until his scheduled appearance alone does not meet that wording.
What if the menu never appears?
Use the loading guide linked below. WebGPU warnings, a download still in progress and an overcrowded server are different cases.
